2012 (Our rookie year!)

University:

Florida Atlantic University

Major:

Ocean Engineering

What did you work on when you were on the team?

While on the team I worked on structural / mechanical components, such as the chassis design.

What was the most valuable thing you learned by being a member of the team?

By being a member of Team 4118 I learned that I wanted to become an engineer, and that teamwork was crucial to a degree that I had never experienced before.

What impact did being a member of the Roaring Riptide have on your life?

Membership to Roaring Riptide’s competition team in high school guided me to engineering; even when I doubted myself, my mentors were always supportive and encouraged us to keep thinking and never give up.

Have you worked for any companies or labs either full-time or for an internship? If so, which ones?

Yes: this past summer I was a Systems Engineering intern for Northrop Grumman Corporation.

What are some projects that you’ve worked on since graduating high school?

Projects in college thus far include the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and the Office of Naval Research (ONR)-sponsored RoboBoat and RobotX Competitions.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years, I could be working for a large engineering company on either ocean / aerospace-related projects. I would love to design unmanned / manned boats or submarines.
